I’ve got cold feet

Not in the last-minute nerves sense.  In the I-should-be-wearing-slippers sense.  The Wales Tales (I called it a saga earlier, but Mom pointed out that saga is Icelandic, not Welsh.  Not that it matters.  But this is better.) will continue tomorrow.  I needed a break.  I also needed to visit all my blog friends and catch up on what I missed.  I was almost two weeks behind!  That’s like 10 years in internet time.  Of course, an hour and a half in one evening is not long enough to completely catch up, but I’ve made a start.  Now I’m going to take my chilly toes to bed.

Chilly toes, chilly toes

Why so cold?  Nobody knows.

If they could stretch, they might touch your nose.

Chilly toes.

What tune am I singing that to?  Guess right and I’ll send you a book.  What book?  It’s a surprise.

…not I’ve got Smelly Cat stuck in my head – not that that works very well, but it’s what popped in and now has taken hostages.

Popsicle Toes? My favorite version is from Manhattan Transfer. I’m going to post the lyrics. Warning: it’s long!

And when God gave out rhythm
He sure was good to you
You could add, subtract, multiply and divide by two
    I know today’s your birthday
And I did not buy no rose
But I’ll sing this song instead
‘An I call it Popsicle Toes

    Popsicle Toes
    Popsicle Toes are always froze
    Popsicle Toes
Oh you’re so brave to expose all those Popsicle Toes

    You must’ve been Miss Pennsylvania
    With your bedroom attitude
How come you always load your Pentax when I’m in the nude
We ought to have a birthday party
And you can wear your birthday clothes
We can hit the floor and go explore
    Those Popsicle Toes

    Popsicle Toes (ooh)
Popsicle Toes are always froze (ooo ooh)
    Popsicle Toes (wah ooh)
Oh you’re so brave to expose all those Popsicle Toes (ooh)

Don’t ‘cha know you got the nicest North America
    This sailor ever saw
I’d like to feel your warm Brazil, touch your Panama
Well your Tierra del Fuegos are nearly always froze
We got to see-saw until we unthaw
    Those Popsicle Toes

    Popsicle Toes (wah ooh)
Popsicle Toes are always froze (wah ooh)
    Popsicle Toes (ooh)
Oh you’re so brave to expose all those Popsicle Toes
    Popsicle Toes (wah ooh)
Popsicle Toes are always froze (wah ooh)
    Popsicle Toes (ooh)
Oh you’re so brave to expose all those Popsicle Toes (Fade)
