When Jack woke up this morning, I noticed some markings on the tip of his nose and on the back of one of his hands, near his thumb. They were definitely not there yesterday, and I’m pretty sure they weren’t there when we put him to bed. Was it a rash? Is he reacting to the scrambled eggs he hated the other day? Maybe freckles from the sun because maybe I missed a spot with the sunblock? It looked kind of like a henna tattoo, but I knew that was pretty unlikely (although who knows what kind of partying he does when we’re asleep). I rubbed my fingers over it to see if it was raised (it wasn’t) or if it would rub off (it didn’t). Next step: take a picture so I can email the doctor.
Before I emailed the doctor (THANK EVERYTHING THERE IS TO THANK), I went after it with a wet napkin. I did not just lick my finger and rub it on his nose. That’s full mom – I haven’t gone full mom.
And, ahem, the wet napkin took it right off. ::insert sheepish face:: I think it was prunes from last night’s dinner.

You can’t be too careful. Any undesired results from the prunes?

Aside from the blowout after three days without poop?

Full mom will come. It did for me this year when I would discover during school drop-off that Will had drooled toothpaste down his shirt. FYI, spit does not remove toothpaste drool…

I pack an extra outfit in the diaper bag now. Maybe I’ll transfer that to keeping an extra outfit in the car once school starts. 🙂
