Two sick dogs does not a happy household make. They’re miserable, we’re miserable, and I can’t believe I’m looking forward to seeing solid dog poop again. I mean, really. We haven’t made it through a night without some cleanup necessary in the morning. It’s been almost a week, but at least in the beginning, it was just one dog. Last night I shot downstairs at 2:30 in the morning because I heard Roxy’s collar jingle. I thought maybe she was just getting up and I could get her outside in time. Nope. There was already a mess. I cleaned it up while they were outside and went back to bed. Got up at eight this morning – another mess. I’m fairly certain the second mess was Riley. We were thinking about crating them tonight, but honestly, it’s easier to clean up the floor than it is to clean up the crate AND give each dog a bath. Before work.
Enough about dog poop? Okay. The only other thing on my mind is my DE midterm tomorrow morning. And Doctor Who.
[Beginning of Doctor Who section – if you’re not interested (I’m looking at you, family), you can quit reading now.]
We finished Season 4 of Doctor Who today (and Season 2 of Torchwood). I have two things to say:
- Rose got her Doctor! Yay yippity yay yay! Makes me very happy. And maybe a little teary.
- I am NOT ready for a new Doctor. Do I have to?
- Does this mean we get Martha on Torchwood? And maybe Mickey? I could live with that. Don’t answer me. I’ll find out soon enough.
- Donna was my favorite. She was AWESOME.
- GREG. The fish-head episode is long over. Unless there’s another one even MORE literal than the one I’m thinking of. What on EARTH were you going to tell us?
I could go on, but John is making dinner and it smells SO good.
The Dr.'s Daughter
K, told you it was more built up than it was worth, but here you go: The Doctor married and had a kid with his own daughter, who he had twice.

Now isn’t that just anti-climatic? 😉

So have you gotten to watch all of the related specials as well? They are: The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars, and The End of Time (two parter).
And David Tennant was awesome and it was sad to see him go, but Matt Smith does an excellent job in the bow tie (and, occasionally, fez). I was worried at first since the first few episodes get off to a rocky start but he finds his stride quickly enough.
As for season 3 of Torchwood, I’ll just go ahead and spoil that there are no other appearances from companions or other characters that I recall. But it is freakin’ fantastic. I’m just sad because I don’t think season 4 will be on Netflix since it’s co-produced by Starz and Starz and Netflix had that whole falling out thing.

Scratch that, I just checked and apparently season 4 of torchwood is now available! I know what I’m doing tonight. Trick or treating with my daughter. But tomorrow night it’s on!
Zannah
Greg – I wouldn’t say it’s totally anti-climactic. 🙂 That little girl is Doctor Who royalty.
The specials are next. We watched The Next Doctor yesterday. We watched the first episode of season 3 of Torchwood, and it was really good, so I think that’s on the schedule for tonight.
Have fun trick or treating!

Don’t fear, Zannah. First of all-I had the same experience as you and John-watching that awesome season end so well and Rose getting her Doctor, then seeing Matt Smith flying over London…but the specials really are, well, special! The Waters of Mars was scary/scary good, but the End of Time I would put up against just about any big budget film that’s come out lately (I don’t know why we’ve decided to only put big budgets into remakes of crappy action movies or crappy TV shows…)
On another note, um, hello, but I’m the one who’s supposed to send cool stuff from thenerdist.com or Chris Hardwick to John and then have him show it to you. How can I keep my illusion of being cool with you trumping all the cool stuff I send your way first!! 🙂 Seriously, I think it’s funny we’re both Chris Hardwick fans but that I have honestly never mentioned him to John and only find out when I send him a link to the Pretenders cover video and his response is “Yeah, already saw it!”
Wouldn't the Tardis be better for 500 miles?

Brian – I follow him on Twitter and got the link from there. For the most part, though, I think you’re safe from being scooped by me. Until we’re 100% caught up, I’m avoiding most Doctor Who-related stuff because of spoilers. I figured this video was safe because it was marked Tennant-era and I knew we were basically done with that section. Usually, I’m not even looking. You can keep the glory. 🙂
But I’ve watched that video at least four times now. Can’t help myself.

Just read this post. Tennant will always be my doctor, but Matt Smith does an amazing job so you won’t be too disappointed with Tennant leaving.
As for Torchwood… season 3, Children of Earth is phenomenal. You should enjoy that quite a bit. Season 4… well, all I will say is that it exists.
That Pretender video is pretty epic. You would probably enjoy a video created by Craig Ferguson that was supposed to air during his Doctor Who special episode. You can watch it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9P4SxtphJ4
I think that video actually sums up Doctor Who better than any other attempt to describe it.
